The Overview

Project: Knox Trail - Acton, MA

Product - DCE Solar Long Span B

Installed by - DCE Services

Project Size - 1.48 MWdc

System Size -996 kWac Solar | 500 kWac Battery Storage

This impenetrable site was planned for conversion into a solar field. Excellent results in terms of budget, performance, and environmental safety were a must. EDF Renewables knew that there could be no compromise on the quality of the design and installation of the array containing 3,906 modules.

The Challenge

The project is located on a CERCLA site, formerly a gravel pit. Setbacks and buffers for wetlands, monitoring wells, and water supply wells impacted the array area, along with possible underground obstructions. However, the area needed minimal clearing and grading, and access was already in place.

The Solution

DCE Solar's Long Span system with a ballasted foundation provided EDF Renewables with the solution that was needed for this impenetrable site. As the Long Span ground mount's structurally independent tables diminished any terrain challenges, the locally sourced and precast ballasted foundations offered unmatched stability with its gravel footprint. With all vertical support members pre-installed, distribution and installation were a breeze.
